Data and knowledge platform

With Smart Farming NHN (SF NHN) we are joining forces in a data and knowledge platform: a partnership between entrepreneurs, knowledge institutes, education and government. We are committed to (accelerated) development and application of high-tech and data solutions in the agricultural sector in Holland North.

Technology and data are used here to optimize operating results, product quality as well as optimization of the use of the soil, water and energy.

In short: a big leap forward towards Smart Farming 2030.

For instance, by solutions for early detection of disease, application of precision technology for fertilisation, detection, feed, cultivation and crop yields and all future possibilities that contribute to the realisation of these goals.

Agribusiness is flourishing in the region Holland North with companies and entrepreneurs who work locally, regionally, nationally, in Europe and at a global level. It is a sector that is continuously moving and developing and that is constantly working on improvement and innovation.

For a long time already, Greenport NHN and its partners have been working in various projects on increasing and sharing knowledge and innovation in agribusiness. With the below-mentioned considerations as a basis, we want to take a big leap forward with Smart Farming NHN in high-tech and data applications in order to ensure a healthy future of agribusiness.

Greenport Noord-Holland Noord

In Greenport Noord-Holland Noord entrepreneurs, government and knowledge institutions are working together regionally on joint challenges that will contribute to future-proofing agribusiness.

Within the various sectors in Holland North, we have global market leaders in the field of breeding, production, processing, supply companies and commerce. At the same time there is room for small, local entrepreneurs. Agribusiness in Holland North is characterised by the collaboration and cohesion between all the agri sectors of agriculture, livestock breeding, bulb cultivation, horticulture and breeding and everything associated to these sectors makes it a strong economic cluster. Together they provide the green experience and healthy food for the Netherlands and abroad.

Agribusiness is facing major challenges to be able to continue to stay in business in the future in a manner that is both economically and socially cost-effective. The challenges are diverse in nature and concern the responsibility of entrepreneurs, government, education and research. This calls for intensive collaboration between partners in the region.

For that reason, a network of regional partners is forming in and around agribusiness: Greenport NHN. The network focusses on the joint challenges that entrepreneurs, government and knowledge institutions identify themselves with and which contribute to futureproof agribusiness.

In futureproof agribusiness, our entrepreneurs and businesses are constantly evolving in order to meet the demands imposed by society, the environment, the market and the living environment, while leaving room for economic growth.

In Greenport NHN entrepreneurs and government encourage each other to preserve and, at the same time, reinforce the economic value of agribusiness in the region in order to be able to tackle new (social) challenges together. We are Greenport NHN!
